Wave Washers

Wave Washers

 (216)
For more load build up and less deflection than a bowed washer. Wave washers are usually used in thrust loading applications for small deflections, particularly where space is limited.
The spring rate is linear between 20% and 80%.
Used to provide pressure between surfaces, prevent rattles, and control friction.

Standard Materials:

• Spring Steel: SAE 1074 High Carbon Spring Steel to ASTM#A684, hardened to Rockwell C45-50
• Stainless Steel: 302 Stainless Steel to ASTM#A177
o 301 Stainless Steel to ASTM#A177
o 17-7 Precipitation Hardened Stainless Steel to ASTM#A177
• Phosphor Bronze: 5% Phosphor Bronze to ASTM#B103, Copper Alloy UNS#C51000

Finish:

Wave Washers

Special Wave Washers

 (14)
Waved washers for more "load build up" and less deflection than represented in the bowed washer. Undulating surface--Multiple contact points provide stability, a resistance to deflection, and relatively greater "load build up" pressure against the surfaces involved.

Bow Washers

Bowed Washers

 (364)
Minimum load build up with maximum washer deflection – light thrust loads compared to other style spring washers.
Used to apply tension between two surfaces to eliminate “play” and prevent rattles.
The spring rate is approximately linear between 10% and 80% of available deflection.

Standard Materials:

• Spring Steel: SAE 1074 High Carbon Spring Steel to ASTM#A684, hardened to Rockwell C45-50.
• Stainless Steel: 302 Stainless Steel to ASTM#A177.
o 301 Stainless Steel to ASTM#A177.
o 17-7 Precipitation Hardened Stainless Steel to ASTM#A177.
• Phosphor Bronze: 5% Phosphor Bronze to ASTM#B103, Copper Alloy UNS#C51000.

Bow Washers

Special Bowed Washer

 (23)
Bowed washers for minimum "load build-up" with maximum washer deflection. The bowed washer is used to apply tension between two rotating surfaces to eliminate "play" and prevent rattles or to provide friction between two surfaces.

Cupped Washer

Cupped Spring Washers

 (205)
Cupped (Belleville) Spring Washers

For maximum load build up with minimum washer deflection compared to a bowed washer. They provide high loads in small spaces.
Stacked in nested multiples cupped washers provide extreme load build up.
Stacked in inverted pairs cupped washers provide maximum washer deflection (flexibility) and less load build up.

Standard Materials:

• Spring Steel: SAE 1074 High Carbon Spring Steel to ASTM#A684, hardened to Rockwell C45-50
• Stainless Steel: 302 Stainless Steel to ASTM#A177
o 301 Stainless Steel to ASTM#A177
o 17-7 Precipitation Hardened Stainless Steel to ASTM#A177
• Phosphor Bronze: 5% Phosphor Bronze to ASTM#B103, Copper Alloy ...

Belleville and spherical type--for maximum "load build up" with minimum washer deflection.

Slotted Washers

Cupped Spring Washers Slotted

 (102)
Slotted washer for less "load build-up" and more flexibility. The slotted washer provides soft, uniform friction between two surfaces and has a wide range of flexibility without creating heavy "load build-up". It is used for maintaining a uniform pressure between surfaces, not for repeated flexing.

Slotted (Electrical) Washers

For less load build up and more flexibility than a bowed washer. Provides a soft, uniform friction between two surfaces. Compared to a cupped (Belleville) washer a slotted washer has a wide range of flexibility without creating a heavy load build up. It is intended for maintaining uniform pressure between surfaces, not for repeated flexing.

Standard Materials:

• Spring Steel: SAE 1074 High Carbon Spring Steel to ASTM#A684, hardened to Rockwell C45-50
